Tom Ford may be best known as a fashion designer, but the creative is also a renowned film director. Ford has previously helmed A Single Man, a well-received film that debuted in 2009. Now, Ford is premiering his latest big screen effort — Nocturnal Animals. The film will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, and it stars Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal. Nocturnal Animals is based off of Austin Wright’s 1993 novel Tony and Susan, with the film adaptation written by Ford himself. Susan (played by Adams) becomes engrossed in a book manuscript her ex-husband wrote which depicts his family vacation that went astray with violence. Susan then discovers some truths about herself and her previous marriage. Early last year, the film sold for a whopping $20 million USD to Universal Studios, so expectations are high. TIFF often serves as an early incubator for award season considerations and will run from September 8-18.
