Supreme continues its 2016 spring/summer projects with a focus on reggae history from 1979. Commemorating at-the-time teenaged vocalist Barrington Levy and reggae producer Hyman “Jah Life” Wright, the collection features iconic imagery and references to the partnership that brought upon albums such as ‘Bounty Hunter,’ ‘Englishman’ and ‘Robin Hood’ — stepping stones that would lead to Levy’s path to superstardom and form what is now known as the dancehall reggae sound. Further, work between him and Jah Life would eventually produce “Murderer” and forego the stereotype that great reggae had to come from Jamaica.
The drop will include an assortment of T-shirts, tank tops, and a pullover hoodie in a bevy of colors featuring the partnership’s original artwork. Look for the release to hit Supreme New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris and online June 16, while Japan will see its release June 18.
