Although the Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined Lollapalooza's main stage at Grant Park on Saturday night, July 30, the most exciting act belonged to Vic Mensa. The Chicago rapper's set on the Pepsi stage was a memorable one that could've easily been a headlining performance. Dancers dressed in police riot gear accompanied Mensa on stage while he performed "16 Shots," a song addressing the shooting of Laquan McDonald and how poorly he felt the government handled it. Mensa also performed "Free Love" dedicated to the LGBT community, and "Shades of Blue" for the people of Flint, Michigan. Vic shared a story of how he was almost killed at 17 when he tried to sneak in Lollapalooza, which he feels is not very accessible to the lower-income people of the city. Check out a few shots of his performance above.
